What are Community Groups?

Community Groups are at the very fabric of how we worship and grow at Carpenter's Way.  We believe life happens better when lived with others and that you will thrive most when connected within a Community Group.  Because of this, we want to provide you with information about this ministry.

A Community Group is a small group of adults that meet regularly throughout the Mid-County area in homes, coffee shops, businesses, and just about anywhere a group of people can fit.  These are groups of men and women committed to doing life together - the pretty parts of life and the ugly parts of life.

Each group meets for a specific length of time and will have food, conversations, prayer, and ministry.

  • Encouraging Spiritual Growth through Bible Study

  • Embracing the importance of praying together during each Community Group

  • Emphasizing the importance of fellowship & enjoying the diversity of the Body of Christ

  • Enabling each Community Group to be involved in ministry each semester, through service by using the spiritual gifts, talents and abilities of those attending

When do semesters Start/end?

A Community Group does not have a specific schedule that is required.  We want to enable groups to meet at times and in places that meet the needs of the individual group.  Each group decides what schedule fits their group.

However, there is a generalized tempo of meeting times that have been used:

  • FALL SESSON: The fall session is usually from early September to the first Wednesday in December. This is approximately 15 weeks depending on the year.

  • WINTER SESSION: The winter session is usually from early January to mid-March. This is approximately 9 weeks depending on the year.

  • SPRING SESSION: The spring session is usually from mid-March to mid-May. This is approximately 9 weeks depending on the year.

Time of group

Community Groups usually meet from 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Parents are asked to drop off their children no earlier than 5:45 p.m. and pick them up no later than 7:45 p.m.

Because many of the Community Groups consist of moms and dads that would like to utilize the Preschool and Children's Ministry programs during the time they are meeting with their own group. Due to the Preschool and Children's Ministry schedule being outlined as above, most groups have decided to meet at these time. However, we have groups that meet at other times throughout the week.

What is a Converge?

A Converge is an event that happens periodically at Carpenter's Way where we get together as a whole church body and celebrate what Jesus is doing in our lives and families.  Each CW Converge is different.  Community Groups will have three Converge events a year - each at the beginning of a session in January, March, and September.  These Converge events are an opportunity for all Community Groups to gather together, share a meal, and celebrate what the Lord will do in the coming session as we kickoff a new round of Community Groups.

I'm ready to join a Community Group.
What do I do?

This is the most exciting part!  You can join a Community Group at any time.  We hope you will commit to a single group until the completion of a session.

The best way to join a Community Group is to attend the next Community Group Converge event.  There you will get good food and enjoy a 'family reunion' type atmosphere as new groups are formed and old ones meet together again after a break.

Another way to find the right group for you is to complete the short form below.  Your response will be sent to our Pastor, Pat Cammarata.  He will use the information provided and contact you with some information about current groups that may be a good fit.

Information about each group is always updated in The Outpost as well.
